Every Gift is Important and Appreciated

As a community-based, nonprofit hospice, Hospice of Dubuque is committed to providing our programs and services regardless of financial status. All gifts made to Hospice of Dubuque remain in our tri-state community and help provide care for persons unable to pay. Gifts also support the many unfunded programs and services we offer. 

Hospice of Dubuque is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Gifts to Hospice of Dubuque are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. 

One-Time Donation: Your gift to Hospice of Dubuque allows us to provide our services to anyone who needs them. Your donation can be made by phone, in person, by mail, or online.

Memorials/Honorariums (Tribute Gift): While every gift to Hospice of Dubuque is important and meaningful, memorials and honorariums are a special tribute to loved ones. The person remembered or honored is listed in our quarterly newsletter unless we are directed to exclude the person’s name. If requested, Hospice of Dubuque will also notify the person’s family of your gift.

Recurring Donation: Supporting Hospice of Dubuque through our giving program is a great way to invest in hospice and palliative care and spread your generosity over the course of a year, thus creating a continuous impact. Your gifts can be made via automated payments or by credit card. To get started, download this form.

Estate Planning and Legacy Giving: Planned giving, also known as legacy giving, is a donation made by someone through a will, trust, or other estate-related designation. These gifts are typically prepared by a financial planner or attorney. There are many options for planned giving including bequests, gifts of life insurance, stock gifts, and donor-advised funds. 

In-Kind Gifts: Hospice of Dubuque appreciates in-kind gift items. If you would like to donate in-kind gifts, please call 563.582.1220. Please remember that we may not be able to receive all in-kind gifts that are offered. 

Donations in Lieu of Gifts: Many families choose to honor a special event such as a birthday, anniversary, or wedding by suggesting guests donate to Hospice of Dubuque in lieu of gifts. If requested, Hospice of Dubuque will send thank you notes to acknowledge each gift. Upon request, you will receive notice of all the gifts received by Hospice of Dubuque. 

Matching Gifts: Different companies have Matching Gifts that could double your support to Hospice of Dubuque. Check with your employer to see if they will match your donations and find out how to access the appropriate forms, guidelines, and instructions. Donor Bill of Rights

Hospice of Dubuque has adopted the following Donor Bill of Rights and is a member in good standing of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Hospice of Dubuque recognizes that philanthropy is a voluntary action taken for the common good. Hospice of Dubuque also acknowledges that the tradition of giving and sharing is important to the quality of life in our tri-state community. As an organization, Hospice of Dubuque is grateful for the philanthropic support that is received and remains committed to upholding the trust of donors and prospective donors through the highest standards of stewardship, integrity, and accountability. Therefore, Hospice of Dubuque declares that all donors have the following rights:

  • To be informed of the mission, the intended use of donated resources, and the organization’s capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
  • To be informed of the identity of those serving on the Hospice of Dubuque Board of Directors and to expect the Board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
  • To be assured that gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
  • To request documents under the federal guidelines for public disclosure of financial information. 
  • To receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition.
  • To be assured that information about donations is handled with respect and confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
  • To expect that all relationships with individuals representing Hospice of Dubuque will be professional in nature.
  • To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers or employees of Hospice of Dubuque or hired solicitors.
  • To have the opportunity for the donor’s name to be deleted from Hospice of Dubuque’s mailing list.
  • To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers.
