Since 2011, Hospice of Dubuque has been actively involved in We Honor Veterans, a collaborative program sponsored by the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs. This program promotes respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment for veterans who are facing the end of life.
Hospice of Dubuque’s participation in We Honor Veterans ensures that hospice staff and volunteers receive education specific to the care of veterans and that our tri-state veterans receive the hospice and palliative care services they deserve.
As part of We Honor Veterans, Hospice of Dubuque provides veteran pinning ceremonies for hospice patients. These ceremonies are an opportunity for veterans to feel appreciated for their service. This act of gratitude is also an opportunity for veterans to share their stories and find closure.
With compassion and sensitivity, we, at Hospice of Dubuque, honor and pay tribute to the veterans we are privileged to serve. We honor all veterans and thank them for their service.
